Short-Neck Bağlama

Single rib, small scale; built for traditional village playing. Handmade ebony bridge. This saz was made in our workshop in 2024 using kingwood and spruce. Every part was worked by hand; the frets were tied to suit the player's repertoire.

Material

Kingwood and spruce are the principal woods of this saz. The rib carries warm, dense low frequencies while the soundboard projects the upper harmonics. The neck is firm enough to hold tuning; the frets are nylon.

Sound Character

Full and resonant on the low strings; bright on the high strings without ever being thin. This saz was especially favored for slow airs and long-form melodies (uzun hava).
