Juniper Divan

From the native woods of Anatolia — a juniper rib, light and resilient. Prepared for breath-driven, sustained playing. This saz was made in our workshop in 2023 using juniper and a spruce top. Every part was worked by hand; the frets were tied to suit the player's repertoire.

Material

Juniper and a spruce top are the principal woods of this saz. The rib carries warm, dense low frequencies while the soundboard projects the upper harmonics. The neck is firm enough to hold tuning; the frets are nylon.

Sound Character

Full and resonant on the low strings; bright on the high strings without ever being thin. This saz was especially favored for slow airs and long-form melodies (uzun hava).
