What does Tahtakılıç mean?

The metaphor of Tahtakılıç represents, in our culture, peace, justice and tolerance, a person’s struggle with their own ego, and the keeping of distance from violence.

A philosophy of values

Its roots lie in a philosophy of values drawn from the old Turkic ethical disciplines and from an understanding of Islam rooted in the Ehl-i Beyt (the Household of the Prophet).

The bearers of this understanding

Pir-i Türkistan Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, Hünkâr Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli and the Urum Abdalları school are among the foremost representatives of this understanding.
